About

The Full Story

Teitoa Health is a micro clinic created out of a passion to create a new way to care for patients, that is proactive, integrated and individualized.

We are a brand new clinic with a different model and we would love to talk with you about how we are different and if this is a good fit for you and your health journey.

We are a micro-clinic focusing on patients who are ready to try something different. This clinic is designed for people with undiagnosed symptoms, poorly understood syndromes, or struggling to have their needs met in the cooperate medicine model for whatever reason.

We are offering free one on one consultations with Dr. Burton. We invite anyone that is interested to get to know who we are, what we do, and see if we are the right clinic to entrust with your medical care.

I went to medical school at AT Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona.  During my four years of medical school, I gravitated toward family medicine because it gives me a chance to explore every aspect of medicine. I also had the chance to learn osteopathic manipulation which I enjoy using to treat patients. After medical school I did my Family Medicine Residency in the heart of Las Vegas often working right off the famous Las Vegas Strip. I had the chance to work with patients from all over the world.

During my residency I realized my career is a journey. I have a chance to explore, learn, and bring people with me on this journey. I am excited about emerging medicine and strive to stay current and open minded about all the different paths to health.

At this point in my career, I have worked in many health delivery systems. I found that many people are struggling on their health journey. One reason people may struggle is that the guides in these systems don’t have the freedom or flexibility to wander off course or overcome big obstacles for people that are walking on a different path.

I decided to branch out and become an independent physician so I can take some time to go on these journeys. I am interested in working with patients that have medically undiagnosed symptoms and poorly managed or poorly understood syndromes. I can’t claim to be an expert on every symptom or disease. I can say this. I will listen, I will be an ally, I will advocate, and I will research and learn what I can to improve patients’ health. I can also promise that I am excited about the journey.

Philosophy

Dr. Ben Burton approaches medicine from a holistic and patient empowered perspective. He embraces evidence-based modern medicine. He also recognizes that modern medicine does not help everyone. Modern medicine relies heavily on algorithms and standardizations and unfortunately not everyone fits in that box. He believes in listening to his patients and working collaboratively with them. In addition to Family Medicine, Dr. Burton is also board certified in Osteopathic Manipulation. He uses this training to personalize care for patients with difficult to treat conditions. He also believes strongly in collaborating with complementary and alternative medicine practitioners. He has seen how these providers have helped many patients on their health journey.

After graduating from college with my nursing degree I started working in the emergency department as an RN. I loved the fast pace and dynamic nature of the emergency department. I spent 3 years in the ER and I learned so much during that time. I then went to work in a surgery center for 1 year. When we moved to Las Vegas for Ben's residency I took a break from working to care for our family and support him through residency. Since taking a break from working as a nurse I have watched and cared for family members and friends as they go through health challenges. I have seen and personally experienced how difficult it can be to navigate the healthcare system. I have listened to Ben talk about the struggles of his patients. I have trained as a birth doula and childbirth educator. I am currently studying functional nutrition. I am passionate about patient advocacy and improving patient outcomes through advocacy. I wanted to create this clinic so we can ease the challenge of navigating the healthcare system. I want to give people the tools and knowledge to advocate for their health. I want a clinic that allows Ben to care for patients to his fullest ability, using his osteopathic training and creative out of the box thinking to find solutions.  Breaking out of the corporate medicine mold I feel like the potential is limitless. This clinic is something I have dreamed of for years. I can't wait to meet you,

Clinic Experience

Teitoa Health is a micro-practice dedicated to patient centered care. After a lot of research and thought we have chosen to not contract with insurance companies. This allows for flexibility, longer patient visits, little to no wait times, and a more personal relationship with your physician. We believe in empowering patients in their health and wellness journey. We believe in the power of patient advocacy and giving people the tools to navigate the healthcare system. You can use your HSA and FSA benefits with us. If you are in need of labs, imaging, or referrals to specialists or outside services you will be able to use your insurance benefits. We are an additional service to help enhance your healthcare experience.

What is an Osteopathic Physician?

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, or OMT, is a set of hands-on  techniques like chiropractors or massage. Osteopathic physicians (DOs) use these techniques to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using OMT, a DO moves a patient’s muscles and joints through stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.
